Morgans Blue Mountain Lager
by Andrew @ 25, Jun 2008

 4/5

Brewed with 500g dex 500g LDME can yeast. Kegged after 2 weeks in primary. After 2 weeks in the keg the clarity and taste was much improved. The best beer of my short HB career to date. The 19 ltr keg was dry after 1 week. Time to make another one.

Bitter
by Andrew @ 25, Jun 2008

 2/5

Brewed with 500g dex, 500g liqiud malt extract. After 2 months taste was simple. Maybe in need of some more hops or a mini mash with some grain. Not quite VB but initial taste is similar, no real VB after taste. Overall a good base for partial in my opinion.

Malt Shovel Pale Ale
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

 1/5

This was one of the most disappointing kits I've ever done and it's not cheap when you consider the small volume that they recommend a can be made to. Made to recipe exactly and just gammy. Tastes like bananas. Never, ever again.

Wal's Blonde 1.7kg
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

 1/5

I've made this to recipe three times and every time it's been a very different colour and a very different flavour and only once did it turn out well. Not impressed.

Wal's Old Ale 1.7kg
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

 5/5

Made to recipe but with Willamette, a dry stout mix and 300g of dextrose. Excellent. Will definately do this again. Has much more/better flavour than many of the 1.7kg cans.

Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

 5/5

This is a great kit. One friend who regularly keeps James Squires Amber ale in his fridge says this is just like it only better. Another friend said something similar and I agree. I use a 12g Cascade tea bag hops steeped for 10mins and I've done it with a dry dark amber mix as well as with a liquid 1kg amber and a kilo of dextrose. Excellent. Needs a month or two in the bottle as it tends to start out very sweet tasting with the added malt.

Morgans Iron Bark Dark Ale
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

Made as per recipe. Nice, but for my money the Country Brewer 1.7kg Old is much better. Other people I've given samples to agree.

Morgans Australian Bitter
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

Very disappointed. Made three times as per the instructions. Has a very distinctive horrible taste. Another brewer gave me one of these that he'd made and I instantly recognised it's off taste.

Coopers Australian Bitter
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

 5/5

This is great. Though I think that the yeast supplied lets it down. Done as per instructions it's great between one month and 3 months, though can be a bit cloudy and yeasty tasting. Using a better lager yeast I've found that this is one of my favourites. I don't add malt because I love the very light colour of this.

Cascade Chocolate Mohogany Porter
by Andrew @ 22, Jan 2008

 1/5

Made as per instructions. Reeked of sulphor for some weeks after bottling, but eventually that passed. Now it passes for something similar to asprin flavoured beer. I can't bring myself to finish these off after 12 months. Never, ever again. Ooops I've got another can in the cupboard which I can't bring myself to toss out... Planning on using a better yeast and some other added flavour.

Tooheys Dark Ale
by Andrew @ 21, Apr 2006

 5/5

I love tooheys old and ever since starting to brew have been trying to do a beer that is as close as possible to the original, and this one is as close as I could hope to get. I do this kit with a brewcraft stout booster pack (75% malt extract, 25% maltodextrin) and safale s-04 yeast, 18-24 ideal temp. Turns out great!
