India Pale Ale Fresh Wort Kit
by Big Friendly Giant @ 23, Aug 2006

 4/5

Added 200g amber grain and 300g dextrose to this (boiled for 10 mins with 10g fuggles), then dry hopped 20g fuggles to the fermenter. Used WLP007 Dry English ale yeast. This is a nice beer, smooth & malty with a nice burst of hop aroma to balance the malt. Not as bitter as I expected though. For future brews I would bump up the fuggles to about 20g boiled for 20 minutes with the adjuncts. I'm beginning to think ESB are cutting back on the ingredients with these wort packs, the OG is always lower than expected (usually ~1040 to 20L) and there is not as much hoppiness going on with some styles that need it (like this one, and the APA). Other than that, a nice beer but getting costly at around $40+.
