E.S.B Extra Special Nut Brown
by dickTed
@ 26, Apr 2005 |

|
|
Added 1kg LLME, and boiled with 40g
Cascade pellets for 5 mins. There
appeared to be plenty of hops in the
can, though not in the conventional
forms - looked something like they would
look if you put cones through a coffee
grinder.
Anyway, couldn't taste any hops at
all.
Malty sweet. very little bitterness.

Coopers Sparkling Ale

Made this 3 times now, and it's very
easy to turn it into a craft style pale
ale, just by dry hopping and perhaps
some steeping.

Coopers Nut-Brown Ale

Mixed with 1kg LLME. 2 days before
bottling, I opened and threw in a large
spoonful of Hellertau pellets, gently
stirred & sealed up again. Tried a
stubby 1 week after bottling, and wrote
"What a grouse beer - I'll be making
more of this". I missed it when it ran
out.

Coopers India Pale Ale (superseded)
by DickTed

Added 1.3kg LLME and 20g Hellertau
pellets. Dry pitched the accompanying
sachet. The temp peaked at 25, but
stayed at 24 most of the time. Fermented
quickly and was virtually finished in 36
hours. Couldn't taste my hops, but
there was plenty of hop bitterness,
which is the style, so I assumed the
bitterness was totally due to the kit.
Rich dark colour. If you have tried and
like IPA, you shouldn't be unhappy with
this.
