Cascade Golden Harvest Lager
by Gavin

I mixed the kit with a 1kg pack of
Coopers Brew Enhancer 2, 20g of
Hallertau hops, and I used the yeast
that came with the kit - Bohemian yeast.
It seemed to ferment OK once it got
going, which was after about 48 hours. I
racked to secondary at 7 days for a
further 7 days, and added gelatine
finings in secondary.
The result - well, I have beer. It is
nice and clear, but, well there is a lot
lacking. If you like a beer with little
flavour and body, then this beer is for
you. If you like something with a little
more flavour then you are going to have
to be pretty aggressive with the
additives. The Hallertau went no where
near being sufficient. I would start by
assuming that very few hops have been
added in the kit, and instead of using
sugar, try dry malt extract or a double
kit.

Malt Shovel Two-Row Lager

Found this to be too malty, makes quite
a chunky beer. Have since blended with a
straight pale malt and doubled the
volume with great results.
