E.S.B Extra Special Stout
by Glenn
@ 29, Jan 2007 |

|
|
Brewed this one as per the
instructions,used the SA004 supplied,
made to 17 litres. Fermented at 18-21
degrees for 7 days. Tasted great after
one week in the bottle, and continues to
improve. This is a fantastic tasting
stout with a tight creamy head that
lasts all the way to the end.

Coopers Dark Ale
by GLENN
@ 17, Apr 2005 |

|
|
nice dark chocolate color and not bad
head. brewed with 500g dark and 500gm
light dried malt. added 1 teabag golding
hops. 2 sachets of the coopers yeast.
however really lacks much flavour and
body and quite a light tasting beer for
a dark ale.grumpys superior brown ale
looks the same but far better in body
and flavour.

Grumpys SUPERIOR BROWN ALE
by GLENN
@ 17, Apr 2005 |

dark chocolate in color , great head
like the crema of a black expresso
coffee which slowly developed after a
few months in the bottle.beautiful
coffee chocolate flavour coming
thru,overall great body and
mouthfeel.used it with a coopers real
ale from memory, safale yeast which
firmly packed in the bottle so poured
very cleanly and no yeast dribbled into
the glass.

I BLAME USING A MORGANS PILSNER WITH
THIS,BUT THAT WAS THE HOMEBREWSHOP MANS
IDEA CONVICED ME IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN
THE COOPERS PILSNER I WAS GOING TO
USE.ITS AN OK BREW BUT MISSING
SOMETHING, A BIT FLAT AND MISSING
CHARACTER, NOT NEARLY AS NICE AS THE
STELLA BELGIAN LAGER I DID STRAIGHT
AFTER USING THE SAME METHOD USED
SAFLAGER YEAST AT 10c foR 2 WKS AND THEN
RACKED TO SECONDARY FOR ANOTHER WK
BEFORE BOTTLED. AT 8WKS NOT UPTO THE
STELLAS WILL DO AGAIN BUT WILL USE
GRUMPYS EXTRACT,LIQUID YEAST

SAFLAGER DRIED YEAST 2 WKS AT 10c AND
RACKED FOR ANOTHER WK 10C ,BEFORE
BOTTLED.WILL DO AGAIN USING A LIQUID
YEAST AND GRUMPYS EXTRACT NEXT TIME.
