E.S.B Extra Special Stout
by John
@ 19, Nov 2007 |

|
|
I made this stout with 3 kg Briess Dark
LME, and 3 tablespoons Hershey CoaCoa
powder. 5 gallon batch, with OG about
1.036~1.037. Pitched a packet of
Nottingham at 74 degrees and fermented
for 7 days at about 60 degrees.
Finished up about 1.011, for about 3.5%
ABV - not exactly a "stout" by
traditional meaning of the word, but
and excellent session beer. Great
tasting, creamy with nice dense head,
roasty notes come through, with a
lingering chocolate taste that doesn't
overpower. Wonderful beer - highly
recommend.

non HB drinking mates. Will do again
without doubt.

E.S.B Pilsner Fresh Wort Kit
by john
@ 06, Mar 2006 |

|
|
Used it pretty much straight to 20L with
a little lemon peel.
I expected the fresh wort would be ready
to go but as other reviews have
indicated, needs a hops addition. Should
be great for the style with extra hops.
