E.S.B Pilsner Fresh Wort Kit
by kitkat
@ 21, Aug 2006 |

|
|
Made with Wyest Pilsen Lager Yeast
(#2007), 20g saaz 5' hop tea, made to
20 liters, OG 1040, FG 1006, fermented
outside in Melbourne (5-15 degrees). A
very good brew even just 2 weeks after
bottling, it will be gone pretty soon.
I'll do it again next winter (no
brewfridge).

Grumpys CLASSIC ENGLISH DRAUGHT
by kitkat
@ 18, Jun 2006 |

|

Made to specs with dry yeast, took a
long time to ferment due to cooling
temps. It's OK, it's not a bad beer,
but I guess it's me and I am not a huge
fan of the taste, hence the "average".
Unless you've done all the other
masterbrews and that's the last one you
want to try, pick something else, in my
opinion.

Grumpys SUPERIOR BROWN ALE
by kitkat
@ 11, Sep 2005 |

|
|
made with Grumpy's Low (20) IBU extract
and SAF 33 (ale), 22 liters, OG 1042, FG
1014, nice taste, gets better with age.
No idea if it's close to a newkie
brown, but it's very tasty and perfect
for winter :)

Grumpys BOSTON CREAM
by kitkat
@ 11, Sep 2005 |

|
BC + Grumpy High IBU (30) extract, lager
yeast SAF 34/70, 23 liters, 10 days
primary, 5 days secondary, OG 1044, FG
1014. Tastes absolutely gorgeous, my
best HB so far (it was my 8th, made a
few grumpy's lagers since, not tried
yet), I'll definitely order at least 2
more to brew with an ale yeast in
spring, for summer.

E.S.B Irish Red Fresh Wort Kit
by KitKat
@ 30, Apr 2005 |

|
|
Brewed with 1098 British Ale yeast, 19
liters, OG 1042, FG 1010, 7 days
primary, 8 days secondary, 18 days in
bottle now: beautiful, chocolaty flavour
present and very nice, smooth, my best
HB so far. I'd say I'll do it again,
but first I have all the other fresh
worts to try ... :)

Coopers Australian Pale Ale
by Kitkat
@ 28, Mar 2005 |

|
|
Made with Brewcraft Pale Ale convertor
(#76, DME (?) + unknown hops for 5 mins
boil), SAFAle yeast,OG 1046 FG 1010, 1
week fermentation, 1 week secondary.
Great taste after just 5 days, after 2
weeks it is even better. Only problem is
that I'm having carbonation issues with
the longnecks, and didn't make enough
stubbies to last me until the longnecks
carbonate :)

Coopers Original Lager
by Kitkat
@ 12, Mar 2005 |

|
|
As others, did it because it came with
the kit. When to LHBS to get SAFlager
and brewcraft german lager converter
pack, boiled pack + hops. Fermented at
22+ (doh! didn't know). Primary 7 days,
secondary 7 days, primed with coopers
carbonation drop. After 3 weeks, decent
taste (no idea what was in the converter
pack), but almost no carbonation, just a
bit of head when I pour to make one (ie
splash). Carbonation has improved a bit
though, so maybe another couple of weeks
will make it better.
