Muntons Nut Brown Ale
by robbo @ 26, Aug 2007

 4/5

Brewed at 20 deg C with English Ale yeast and a bucketful of extra malts and grains as a big brew day project. Beer came out fantastic, but kit was darker than expected and ended more like a Dark ale or Porter than a Nut Brown. The fine print does say 90-100 ebc. Makes good tasting beer though.

Muntons Gold 3kg India Pale Ale
by robbo @ 26, Aug 2007

 4/5

Brewed at 18 deg C with 2 gold kit yeasts and added a full 1.5 kg bittered tin of light malt to get higher ranks version that is truly 'all malt'. A fine drop, though a bit underdone on the hops for an IPA. The kit on it's own doesn't get anywhere near the concentration of a real IPA at 6% plus. Suggest make the kit in about 15 litres.

Muntons Gold 3kg Docklands Porter
by robbo @ 26, Aug 2007

 4/5

Brewed to instructions at 19 deg C. Fine tasting dark beer but a bit low in ABV. Nice malty beer that is a real english brown porter, but right at the bottom of the style range. I like my Porter at 5.5%, not 4%. Will add a full kg of DME next time.

Coopers Original Lager
by Robbo @ 23, May 2006

 3/5

Brewed as a quick slab for a party. Used Brew Enhancer 2. Fremented at around 23 deg. Fairly ordinary head retention, and passable flavour for commercial beer drinkers. Don't brew with sugar, may be better with liquid malts. Needs more flavour, but as a starter kit it works superbly. Ferments away in a couple of days and produces passable beer.

Coopers Dark Ale

 4/5

Like all Coopers kits this produces good beer on it's own, but to get superb beer you need to add some extra zing. I added a good dose of Halletau hops and used plenty of the Morgans Specialty Liquid Malts. I also doubled the yeast rate. Brewed around 20 deg C. Resulted in a very tasty beer indeed.

Coopers Traditional Draught
by Robbo @ 14, May 2006

 3/5

Brewed with LME according to instructions. Temp 19-20 deg. Resulted in great looking beer, light colour, wonderful creamy head with excellent retention. However taste is quite disappointing. Needs some hops and maybe some specialty malt. Will be a great base for 'kit plus' brewing.

Coopers Australian Pale Ale

 4/5

Made this kit three times recently. A Golden Ale with recultured PA bottle yeast, golden syrup and goldings hops. Fermented too hot up to 28 deg as some *&^%$ turned power off on fridge. Still turned out a very nice drop with excellent head retention. Also, made strictly to can instructions with BE2 as a lawn mower ale. In first months it was just a thirst quencher, but now last few bottles are 5 months old and getting quite tasty and much improved. I have bought more borttles so I can increase my storage time. Finally, used as a base for a traditional English Pale Ale with additions of multiple hop varieties and used amber and specialty malts. Turned out absolutely awesome. A great kit for experimenting.

Coopers India Pale Ale (IPA)
by robbo @ 01, Mar 2006

 5/5

Made with can of liquid malt and 250 g BE2, added Fuggles finishing hops. Brewed at 18 deg C for 7 days. Resulted in a truly sensational beer. My well travelkled friend is now blown away by quality of home brews, better than James Squires by a long way.

Coopers Bavarian Lager

 3/5

Didn't like this beer at first taste, but found it improves a lot after 3 to 4 months in the bottle. Only my third brew and I let it get a bit warm for bottling ( 26 deg ). Found it tasted much better with a nice warm Indian curry.

Coopers Sparkling Ale

This kit should come with instructions on the order of adding the ingredients. I mixed the beer kit with the Dry malt and got one awful gluggy mess. So my method is: Dry malt, boiling water - dissolve - dextrose - dissolve - liquid malt - more boiling water - stir - kit - stir - at least 1 kg clean ice, maybe 2 kg in the summer, fill with pre-cooled water from the fridge. Result is a wort temp of around 19 deg for pitching a pre-prepared yeast starter. Makes a great beer though.

Coopers India Pale Ale (superseded)
by robbo @ 08, Nov 2005

Made this kit with 50% Brew Enhancer and 50% Light Dry malt, brewed at around 21 deg C. A well respected and travelled friend loved it, saying it was just like the James Squires India Pale Ale.

Coopers Australian Pale Ale

 4/5

I have brewed this kit with all manner of additions, Coopers Enhancers, liquid malts, dry malts. My best result came from using 50% Brew Enhancer One and 50% Light Dry Malt. Kept temperature between 18 and 20 deg C for a whole week during May in cool ensuite. Now my wife wants her shower recess back. The Coopers Light Liquid Malt variety was also pretty good drinking.
