Coopers APA
by Homebrew Pete @ 06, Aug 2010 |

|
|
Used BE2, 500g LDME and POR finishing
hops
steeped for 15 mins......After 10 days
fermentation and bottled for 3 weeks, I
couldn't be happier! Tastes like the
real
thing.

back to basics

I,ve
decided to try the recommended brewing
instructions by Coopers with their kits
to see if all this added cost of extras
ie; grains, hops and yeast are really
worth it.After all sometimes we can just
be looking to brew somthing that is easy
drinking and won't break the bank or
disapoint. So off to BigW I went for a
kit and a BE2 all for less than
$20.Brewed the beer as per, ecsept for a
second pack of yeast, thats what you get
when you keep on buying other yeasts.
Anyway the beer turned out super after 2
weeks@ 20C and 2 weeks in keg before
gasing and drinking. This beer would
suite anyone looking to brew on a budget
or for after mowing the lawn or watching
the footy or just getting pissed!

Good base to work from
by Adam @ 09, May 2010 |

Used the tin with BE#2, 500g LDME and
400g
Crystal malt, Centennial and Amarillo
hops with
US05 yeast. Did a 40 minute boil with
the steeped
liquor and a bit of the LDME. Added 10g
Centennial
at 40mins, 18g at 20mins and then 12g of
Amarillo
at flameout. Brewed at 18 degrees for a
week and a
half.
Increasing the hop profile and using a
good quality
yeast has created a very drinkable ale.
Well
balanced with crystal malt and added
hops at the
forefront and then the silky malt with a
lingering
bitterness from the kit. Would
definitely make this
recipe again!

Keep it cool

1 x Coopers APA can, 1 x Coopers BE2, 1
x Saaz
hop teabag (steeped for 10min in cup of
boiling
water and the lot thrown in), 1 sachet
of Fermentis
US-05 yeast. Brewed at 18 deg C using a
collapsable esky and ice bottles. Got to
1.010 in 2
weeks but left it for a total of 3 weeks
then bottled
with 2x carb drops per long neck. After
six weeks it
is crystal clear, light golden in
colour, head lasts all
the way, carbonation is perfect with
very fine
beading, not a hint of
'homebrewyness'. Saaz is
very dominant, would probably use
Cascade next
time which is more true to style. Great
kit if brewed
at a low temp and a good dry yeast is
used.

coopers pale

I have made this kit twice. Once with
1kg kit enhancer and the results are ok
but a bit bland. Second time 1kg DME and
some cascade hop tea. There is a big
difference with thte dme and hop tea
one. Tastes much fuller and lot more
flavor.

Coopers Australian Pale Ale
by Boingk - Email Reviewer @ 09, Nov 2009 |

Made up to 22L with 500g LDME and 300g
Dextrose, with 10g Pride of Ringwood
hops boiled for 15min with a half litre
of water and 50g of the LDME. Stock
yeast run at 18'c. Came out a very
clean, clear beer with a decent amount
of body and malt profile, backed up by
the extra hopping. Haven't had a
commercial Pale Ale in a while but rekon
this hits the spot! 5 stars.

Great, easy beer
by khrusty - Email Reviewer @ 06, Nov 2009 |

Have brewed this several times. All
times just used a BE2. Just used the
packet yeast. Steeped 12g POR for 20
mins. Second time thought I would go in
a different direction and actually used
SAAZ just as an aroma hops. Fermented at
around 22-23 degrees. OG 1040 FG 1012.
Primary fermentation for around 10 days.
This is an, easy & great beer to make.
ANd the price is great too! Can be drunk
in around 2-3 weeks, but as with most,
time is a major helper. One criticism is
that yeast packs too tightly in bottom
of bottle. Highly recommeded!!!

Simple Pale Ale

Can + Coopers Brew Enhancer 2 + I
decided to culture yeast from 2 stubbies
of CPA into a 1L starter for 2 days. At
full krausen I dumped it into the mix.
Also boiled 20g Pride of Ringwood hops
for 30mins and 10g at flame out. Primary
for 18 days at 19C, SG 1049 FG 1009.
After 3 weeks in the bottle it's nicely
carbonated but lacks head and tastes a
little on the weak side. It does show
hints of the classic CPA, mostly I think
due to the PoR addition, but the 500g of
dextrose in the BE2 hasn't helped. I
would do the mix up to about 20L and
probably just add 1kg of light malt
instead of the BE2.
