steeped tettnager hop bag. used safale
yeast & fermented around 22 deg. tasted
after a month & had strong banana smell
& taste, was a bit disapointed after
hearing all the praise for this kit. 6

tasty crisp beer, will do again.

a great can

After over 25 batches of kit beer I can
say that the Blue Mountain is the best
and most relaible that I know of. I
always use the can yeast, but have
varied hops and grains and never had a
bum batch. In my latest batch use Saaz
plus Goldings hops 12g each, steeped in
thermos for 10 mins, and crystal malt
steeped 20 mins to produce a darker, yet
more complex beer. It's a winner.

Brewed using kit, 1kg LDME, 25g
Hallertau MF and Saflager. After two
weeks it was ok, but still fairly
immature. 6 weeks later its improved
out of sight, but still needs another
month or so. Great drop, good can for
experimenting

1 can of BLM, #15 brew booster(250g corn
syrup,250g Malt. 500g Dextrose). Added
500g L.D.M plus 1 brewiser hop
bag(12g)in 300ml of boiling water for 10
minutes and 2.7 ltr of boiling water(was
winter). Bottled after 9 days OG-1072,
FG-1014 alc 8.27%. This beer was head
and shoulders over anything i have
made..and was all drunk in 3 days ,
without being to heady..it bubbled its
head off in the glass for ever..seen
nothing like it..and the taste was like
a premium tassie beer..fantastic.

I should have mentioned in my previous
review, that I used 1kg Morgans Master
Blend Lager extract malt for the
fermentables. Also used the kit yeast.

Great Summer Beer
by loftboy - Email Reviewer

Brewed using 2 stage fermentation. (6 +
8 days). Dry hopped with Hallertau in
secondary. Apart from low carbonation,
it turned out a very nice drop indeed.
Very much a summer beer. Will do again.
(Carbonation issue was due to not bulk
priming with enough dextrose)

Can of morgans blue mountain lager, 600g
dex, 250g light malt brew improver, 250g
wheat malt brew improver, 12g hallertau
and done s-23.
Boiled all fermentables besides the kit
for 10 minutes, added hops five minutes
before flameout and mixed the kit at
flameout.
Water bathed and cooled to 20 degrees
then yeast was pitched.
Fermented for around 3 weeks and came
out with a beautiful crean crisp lager
at 5.3%, beer needs at least a month in
the bottle before drinking but only gets
better with age. Will definatley do
again.
Cheers

Consistently Great Beer

Can of 'Bluey', 500 gms light spray
malt and 500 dex. Boil for 5 mins, add
12 gms Hallertau, slow boil for 10 mins.
Strain into fermenter with the kit, add
1 tea bag of hersbrucker finishing hops,
same yeast, or Saflager S 23 is great,
but only in the winter, were you can
keep it below 18 degrees.
This beer is PERFECT with just dextrose
and no malt or hops everytime, but if
you like an aromatic lager with a bit
more hop, then go the extra.

Nothing Blue About This

Ah. Morgan's Blue Mountain.
Best Home Brew lager on the market.
Nuff said.
What I like about Morgan's is they're
unpretentious (take note, Malt Shovel!).
Must go with the Queensland territory.
Try it with a proper lager yeast.
But even with the kit yeast it's OK,
although really more a dinner ale than a
proper lager. A good Aussie tradition,
dinner ales!
Why would you want to risk it with
imported lagers that have spent 3 months
in a container on a dock in Dubai when
you can have this fresh from the local
maker? (No, they don't employ me, but
I'm open to offers)
One of my few unqualified
recommendations.
(Not a "great" beer, mind you, but
consistent and drinkable. No mean feat
in homebrewland).
