Big Lager
by BFG
@ 30, Apr 2007 |

Modified this to be a bigger malty
lager. Used 230g amber grain, 120g
medium crystal, and 500g dextrose along
with equal hallertau and saaz hops
adding 15 IBU's. Brewed with the W34/70
yeast at 11*C for two weeks. Came out at
around 6.5% abv. Smooth and malty with a
good balance of bittering. Very easy to
drink, with a nice dry finish from the
extra hops and alcohol. Suitably
impressed with this kit, will probably
try it again as the basis of a dark
lager.

Made up to 18 litres with saflager
yeast. Fermented at mid to high teens
for 3 weeks. Not a bad beer, just lacks
a certain something, but quite malty and
smooth.

Made with White Labs German Lager yeast
and dry hopped with 10 grams of
tettanger. 2 weeks primary, 1 secondary
and 2 weeks CC, turned out very nice.
Only thing I could thing I would change
is too add more hops when dry hopping.
Would Do again, lovely white head.
