Absolutely Fanstastic Stout
by John
@ 19, Nov 2007 |

|
|
I made this stout with 3 kg Briess Dark
LME, and 3 tablespoons Hershey CoaCoa
powder. 5 gallon batch, with OG about
1.036~1.037. Pitched a packet of
Nottingham at 74 degrees and fermented
for 7 days at about 60 degrees.
Finished up about 1.011, for about 3.5%
ABV - not exactly a "stout" by
traditional meaning of the word, but
and excellent session beer. Great
tasting, creamy with nice dense head,
roasty notes come through, with a
lingering chocolate taste that doesn't
overpower. Wonderful beer - highly
recommend.

Stout!

I have brewed this about four times over
the years, volume 18L with S-04 yeast,
and is excellent with Irish Ale liquid
yeast. Absolutely nothing wrong with
this kit, it is rich and roasty yet
smooth and has a great head. I've tried
other stout kits to compare and haven't
found any to match it.

Brewed this one as per the
instructions,used the SA004 supplied,
made to 17 litres. Fermented at 18-21
degrees for 7 days. Tasted great after
one week in the bottle, and continues to
improve. This is a fantastic tasting
stout with a tight creamy head that
lasts all the way to the end.

very smooth and very drinkable after 5
weeks in the bottle (and getting
better). On my to do again list!

Made according to directions with Safale
yeast provided. Made to 18 litres and
brewed at 18 to 20 degrees for 7 days
then racked to secondary for a further 7
days. Big stout taste with plenty of
bitterness, creamy head and smooth
finish. Very drinkable after 2 weeks
and continues to improve with bottle
age. Excellent brew.

used the kit as per instructions,
started drinking them about a week after
bottling. And found that the safale
yeast sat nicely on the bottom, and the
beer tasted great.. and continued to get
better as time went on.
Easily the best stout ive brewed

Top stout

Brewed according to instructions - made
to 18l, used the dried safale yeast
supplied, fermented at around 23-25c.
An excellent full bodied stout, complex
smooth malty taste with a nice bitter
finish. Good head retention. The best
stout I've made from a kit - far
superior to the Coopers stout which I
find a bit rough in comparison.
Definitely 5 stars from me.
