passiona lager
by honestjohn

He's back.
The reviewer who strikes fear into the
hearts of goo producers everywhere.
If Passiona (you know, the soft drink
that used to come in purple cans) were a
beer, this would be it.
Now I know this is trendy and uses
boutique hops and all that, but it's
just not my cup of, er , beer flavoured
soft drink.
Presumably based on Mac's Gold All Malt
Lager.
I dunno, if you like it go ahead and
experiment.
Can't fault them for the hops in the
can, though - nice to see portions of
whole hops in the goo rather than the
ubiquitous invisible isohop extract.
Deserve an extra star for that.

Fruity/Spicy Lager
by Ray - Email Reviewer

Brewed can as per instructions and got a
lager with an alcoholic volume of 5.3%.
The aroma is fruity/spicy - sort of
reminds me of the filling in a mince
pie.
In terms of taste it has a bit more bite
than the usual lager. It's not bad but
have tasted better brews. I agree with
the last reviewer, it would be a better
drop if the kit was mixed with other
ingedients.

european style lager

Made to 11.5 litres with supplied yeast.
The yeast is Saflager S-189,a quality
yeast which will ferment at low
temperatures. Each can is infused with
hop pellets before being sealed. Yes, it
is chunky, but don't complain, those
are real hops! I racked it to a
secondary when fermentation was complete
and let it sit for two weeks. If you can
do this, or at least let the beer settle
in the primary after fermentation has
completed, you will get a clear, bright,
fresh, crisp lager. A quality kit.

I got this for Xmas, made it up as per
instructions. It was full of hop
pellets, but nothing was said about
filtering etc in the instructions.
The beer is OK, think I kept it within
temp. range, but looks awful with chunks
of crap floating in it.

Not too malty but yum
by Steve - Email Reviewer

It is malty but yum. It actually comes
with a true lager yeast as I ferment it
at about 12 degrees. With this yeast
though I fingd that it does not ferment
to a very low FG so some rousingof the
yeast prior to secondary is very
important, also critical to areate the
wort well prior to adding the yeast.
Highly recommended kit thoug, probably
the best I have ever used.

2 row lager

Found this to be too malty, makes quite
a chunky beer. Have since blended with a
straight pale malt and doubled the
volume with great results.
