Maybe Brunch
by Beach Bum

Combined 2 cans & 250g of lactose up to
22 litres, fermented at low 20's for 12
days then bottled.
Has developed into a reasonable beer
after 12 months. Has a sweetness and a
decent texture, just isn't quite top
shelf.

Tried this one with two tins and 180
grams of maltodextrin and turned out
fantastic.. Nice deep flavours and
smooth. Will do again and again. Just
tasted it 3 weeks otu of the bottle and
tasting fantastic. Had one from our
friend's which was 9 months in the
bottle with the same method and it was
fantastic as well.

Breakfast Beer

Makes a half-way decent stout, although
I really think you'd have to start
adding sutff to get that really chewy
mouthfeel. Smooth though, a bit like Sam
Smiths. I said a bit, not a lot.
Mine had a lactic aftertaste which I
didn't particularly like. Don't know
if it was my doing or the kit as
sometimes such a flavour is desired in a
stout. The beauty of this kit is, if you
don't like it, you only have to drink
15 bottles of the stuff (11.5l)

An 11.5 litre batch was brewed with the
substitution of a live yeast cultured
from a bottle of Cooper's Ale for the
dried yeast supplied with the kit.
Opaque, dark brown in colour,unusually
smooth mouthfeel(result of the oats, no
doubt)and a medium-dry, bittersweet
palate. Not strong on the burnt, roasted
grain notes of bigger stouts, in keeping
with the more subtle oatmeal stout
style. The sample was only two weeks in
the bottle, so I expect this beer to
evolve and become more complex with
time. Quite impressive and worth a try
for something a little bit different.
