Black Rock Bock

Post New Review

better early
by Steve @ 18, May 2008

 2/5

Brewed with brewcraft enhancer, and kit yeast. Drinkable after two weeks, not bad at 3-6 weeks, then thin and perhaps a little too bitter (bitter is okay if there's body!) after that. Kind of like dark tonic water. Definitely wouldn't do it again. It finished at 1012, high I would have thought.

Bit light on
by Thommo - Email Reviewer @ 27, Feb 2006

Tried this wanting something different. Bit dissapointed as it seemed a bit light and tasteless. Some of my mates absolutely loved it though. Just a dark lager really. In all honesty, my complaints are more with the style than the kit. If your after something light on taste yet dark in colour, give this one a go. COuld definately be improved with a few additions.

Chocolate Bock
by MJ - Email Reviewer @ 22, Dec 2005

 4/5

Tried this with 500g dextrose and 1kg Morgans Master Blend chocolate malt and using the yeast supplied. Fermented at 28-30 degrees. A little too green after 4 weeks. An excellant drop after 3mths. The wife loves it, so have to make again.

Mavellous stuff

Absolutely marvellous drop ! I didn't do anything special, used a Brew Booster and let it ferment at room temp. It was brewed in the heat of a hot Aussie Summer in my bathroom/brew station, so it stayed at roughly 28 celcius. It's the best brew I have made to date, and will not have any hesitation in recommending it to anyone. Will do it again maybe in the cooler time of year to see if the flavour changes with temp. The only problem is that it does not have a great deal of head retention.

First Taste
by Bateau Brewer - Email Reviewer @ 17, Jan 2005

 4/5

Just tasting my first after 2 weeks in the bottle and it is going to be a winner. Still needs time to mature but quite drinkable early on. Added 1.7kg of liquid malt and used the kit yeast. Primary for 6 days at 19*C Racked into secondary and left for another 6 days before bottling. Would do again
