not bad

Brewed kit, 1.5 wheat malt (coopers) and
25g cascade (boiled 2 min, stepped 20).
Safale 05 (US56) then 12g cascade dry.
Was way to hoppy straight away, but
after 3 months is a lovely drop. The
hoppiness has lightened, and the wheat
malt has imparted a beautiful flavour.
Would do again and wait 3 months min.
Maybe try some ammarillo and saaz
instead of cascade, and drop the amount
of wheat malt

Brewed with 1.5Kg Wheat malt, 12g
chinook and 25g cascade (dry) using
Safale in hope of a LCPA clone. Tasted
alright two weeks after bottling, and
two months later is not a bad beer, just
needs a month or two to mature and its
hoppiness to mellow.

Too Malty

Made according to instructions with
1.5kg LLME, also used 2 tablespoons of
wheat DME. Brewed using Safale S-04 at
20 degrees for 13 days. OG 1045 FG 1009.
Tasted at 2 weeks. Nice golden colour
and great creamy long-lasting head,
impressive for a beer this young.
However, as another reviewer noted,
it's just far too sweet & malty. The
maltiness really hits you, then
afterwards there's a sort of unpleasant
bitter aftertaste.
Pretty disappointed with this one. It
could probably be made better with some
additional hops.

needs flavour but great look

Brewed with LME according to
instructions. Temp 19-20 deg. Resulted
in great looking beer, light colour,
wonderful creamy head with excellent
retention. However taste is quite
disappointing. Needs some hops and maybe
some specialty malt. Will be a great
base for 'kit plus' brewing.

Pleasant experiment

Bought this kit with a view to attempt a
coopers Pale Ale clone. Added 1kg of
Ultrabrew and 12gm Cluster standard
method. Ended up at only 4%AVB but
tasted absolutely fantastic. When I took
my initial SG Reading and saw that it
was low I had a look at the can...they
recommend using 1.5kg of LME so I'll
try that next time, but I was pretty
impressed with the overall finished
product. Perhaps a bit light on the
body, but the 1.5kg LME next time should
fix that.

A bit disappointing

Made according to recommended
instructions - 1.5kg LME, 23L water,
yeast as supplied, temp low 20s. I was
expecting big things from Coopers
premium range but was disappointed with
this beer. Very “green” after 4 weeks,
smoothed out after 2 months. Too malty
for the style of beer it is trying to
emulate, a bit too sweet and has a
definite "home brew" taste. Didn’t
rate very well with the 6 tasters who
sampled it. Also rated badly in a side
by side comparison with the ESB 3kg kit
equivalent.
